About me

© Eva-Lotte Hill

Christine Lehnen has been writing fiction her entire life. She has been been teaching creative writing at the University of Bonn since 2014. Her short stories have been awarded the prizes of the Young Academies of Europe and the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen.
Her debut YA fantasy trilogy TOUCH THAT FIRE is out with Penhaligon (Random House) in Germany and Pegasus Yayınları in Turkey in 2018. She has written for German and French newspapers and outlets such as Le Taurillon. She has been a judge of the Young Literature Award of her hometown Recklinghausen since 2015. Christine has lived in Canada, the United States, Australia, and Paris, and is now based in Bonn. She even directs Shakespeare plays in her spare time, and also managed to fit in a masters at the Sorbonne in Paris in 2016! She also blogs and tweets at christine isn’t goethe and @cebernardwrites. As the grandchild of a miner and a sales assistant, it always seemed like the most ridiculous dream that she could ever be a published author. That is why she chose her pseudonym in honour of her grandmothers: Elisabeth Surmann and Resi Lehnen, née Bernard.

She is rep’d by Thérèse Coen at the Hardman & Swainson Literary Agency.
